TALOFA LAVA & WELCOME!

S.N.Y.C Services

The Samoa National Youth Council (S.N.Y.C ) is a Non Government Organisation established in 2012 to be the focal office for youth-led activities in Samoa.
Currently there are 132 Village Youth Representatives who are members of the Council.
Every quarter the Council carries out Quarterly Forums with its members to discuss youth issues and projects that the Secretariat carries out. These forums are also used to carry out awareness campaigns/programs to help build the knowledge and capacity of the members.

E-YOUTH HUB & LMIS

Youth who are profiled on the E-Youth Hub can access the Samoa National Youth Council (SNYC) training and certification on good work ethics, soft skills needed in a professional setting and overall capacity building and empowerment on leadership to increase their employability.

The LMIS registers jobseekers’ personal details, qualifications and experience  for local employers to access or search for suitable persons to fill any vacant positions.

SNYC has entered into a partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour (MCIL) in a joint effort to provide accessible youth friendly employment services for youths aged 18 to 35 years through a mutual information exchange mechanism.

SNYC will administer employment services for youth through the E-Youth Hub, whereas MCIL will provide employment options for all ages through the LMIS www.mcil.gov.ws/index.php/en/publication/jobseekers.

If you do not want your information to be provided to MCIL under its joint partnership, there is a box you can check on the registration form.

The purpose of the survey back in April 2016 was to assist SNYC in developing a database of youth participation in the informal sector in particular on income – generating activities by youth in the community and launch a policy paper highlighting the key areas such as:

  1. Explore the common notion that there is no unemployment in Samoa.
  2. Identify baseline data on unemployed and/or economically active youths in Samoa,
  3. Ascertain issues faced by youth living in the community affecting their participation in the employment sector.
  4. Develop a policy statement as a lobbying toolkit in addressing unemployment issues in the youth sector, and
  5. Create and establish the pilot youth pioneers for its youth employment network online platform project.
